Church built by English settlers on St. Kitts

St. Kitts was discovered by Christopher Columbus who named it St. Christopher. It was also taken over by both the French and English governments, who eventually divided the island in half. They fought over the land, killed the native Carib Indians, then finally gave the island its autonomy. The main religion practiced on the island is Christianity, and the Anglican church has the most parishioners. We also saw many Methodist and Catholic churches. The oldest ones are, of course, the most beautiful. Our cab driver told us that Baptist churches are also growing in popularity. Posted by Picasa
